I went on this morning and found that there is no permissions set up yet for those files. ------------------------------ From: brndlfly@Athena.MIT.EDU Date: Sat, 09 Jan 93 16:21:59 EST Subject: Re: scanned pics For everyone who asked: The Skunk Works image archive is accessible by anonymous ftp to harbor.ecn.purdue.edu in pub/skunk-works/pic. It seems that the images I sent Phil are read-write owner only, so I guess we all have to wait until Monday to get the permissions changed. In the meantime, I am going to be working on getting a second batch of images scanned this weekend and will send them to the archive on Monday. A&E network, Wednesday 01/13, 5pm/9pm (pst) "Our Century": Part 1 of three profiling "Frontline Pilots", featuring cockpit footage from an F-117A Stealth Fighter during Operation Desert Storm. Hmmm... I wonder if by "cockpit footage" they actually mean gun camera footage. If not, then this would likely be the first such scene released for the F-117. I don't recall seeing anything other than a still photo from the cockpit before. - -dean ------------------------------ From: Pat Hayes Date: Sat, 9 Jan 93 21:18:32 CST Subject: Re: F-117 "gun camera" footage... Since the -117 has no gun (right?), there'd be no "gun camera" from which to get footage. The video we've seen from Desert Storm probably comes from the onboard FLIR-recorder. The way I understand it -- the pilot uses an up- and down-looking FLIR which displays info on a cockpit flat-screen display. There's a video recorder connected to this display to record the mission. The AF screened the tapes and released "appropriate" footage to the media. Thus, "cockpit footage" is _probably_ more of the same good stuff we've already seen. - -- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pat Hayes, Meteorology, Texas A&M University......phayes@tamu.edu O&M 1008, TAMU, CS, TX 77843-3150....days:(409)845-1680 fax:(409)862-4466 ------------------------------ End of Skunk Works Digest V2 #48 ******************************** To subscribe to skunk-works-digest, send the command: subscribe skunk-works-digest in the body of a message to "listserv@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu".
