I have just uploaded to harbor.ecn.purdue.edu into the /incoming directory two versions of scans of the pictures of the HMB-1 from the book "The Jennifer Project" by Clyde W. Burleson (1977 ISBN 0-13-509927-7) referenced by Zel Eaton. I quickly did this last night on my 300 dpi scanner, so I apologize for the resolution and image formats used (PCX & TIF). I'll try to get to a better scanner soon and repost. Each file contains two images (HMB1 & HMB2) which come from the center plates of the book. Image HMB1 is a picture of HMB-1 at the Redwood facility, and has this description: "This unusual aerial photo show the giant HMB-1 dockside in Redwood City. The building in the background is the training school for the recovery personnel. The smaller metal building houses the practice submarine used in teaching the dismantling techniques. (Los Angeles Times photo)" Image HMB2 is a picture of the HMB-1 afloat and has this description: "This photo of the HMB was taken off the coast of Santa Catalina Island. The sailboat in the lower left gives some prespective of the size of the massive vessel. (Offshore Magazine)" Note: the light area in the upper right corner of this image is due to another picture that is overlapped on the same page in the book. - --jb Jon Broyles Assistant DIrector of Computer Services Notheast Missouri State University McClain Hall 107 Kirksville, MO 63501 JOHN@NEMOMUS.BITNET JOHN%NEMOMUS@ACADEMIC.NEMOSTATE.EDU jbroyles@mc107-61.nemostate.edu ------------------------------ From: George Allegrezza 04-May-1993 1247 Date: Tue, 4 May 93 12:44:32 EDT Subject: RE: HMB-1 Images Jon, Can you specify exact file names for the HMB images on harbor.ecn.purdue.edu? This is the book that Lockheed is supporting. Well ... I'm somewhat confused as to whose book it is. I've heard he's writing it for Lockheed. I've also heard he is having trouble getting stuff declassified. In fact I've heard that security has responded by being even more conservative in declassification, not more liberal. But, these are just rumors. When was the last time you talked to him? I also wonder how much the subject matter of his book would run into Ben Rich's book. I can't help but think Ben wants a few major disclosures to attract people to his book. Ben's writing his book with Leo Janos (Yeager's book was co-authored by Janos). The disclosures are certainly there to be had! Clarification of any of the above would be helpful and save me some time. >Rick "I won't sleep till I read it" Pavek It does sound interesting!
