In fact I think they just brought it over from the flight-line. It had the smell of fuel and hydro still around it (in the wheel wells). Unfortunately, it also had a few birds nests with lots of droppings. Sigh... Perhaps the paint was just some sort of protective covering? The paint really used was quite expensive and perhaps not suited to sitting out in the elements 24 hours a day? At Beale, we treated the real planes with more respect :-) although the one on static display is outside. BTW, having just rejoined this newsgroup I've been hearing about the SR-75. I told a friend who worked with me on the SR-71 about it and he didn't know anything regarding the '75. Could some kind soul please fill me in? (I've been off the net for six months). Thanks!
