Every SENIOR program I am aware of has been a manned, clandestine aircraft. Here's the ones I'm aware of: - - SENIOR BOOK -- TR-1 variant of the U-2 - - SENIOR CROWN -- SR-71 - - SENIOR TREND -- F-117A stealth fighter - - SENIOR CJ (SENIOR SEAJAY??) -- B-2 stealth bomber - - SENIOR YEAR -- recent U-2 flights - - SENIOR GUARDIAN -- combined German-American program (known in Germany as LAPAS). Very long endurance turboprop aircraft. - - SENIOR CITIZEN -- ??? The luncheon dessert was really good. And "Ruby Slipper" lipstick can be exceedingly conspicous. And you should beware of test pilots bearing wine. In fact, you should beware of test pilots. > There wouldn't be a publication from the event, would there? There certainly is. It should appear in about December. I know that I've quoted to the list here from SETP papers before, but I may not have been explicit in crediting their origins. Has anyone seen these? If you have, do you have any comments about the contents and value of them? Anything "skunky" in them? Curious, Mike Hobart ------------------------------ From: Rick Pavek Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1993 20:53:30 -0700 Subject: Roadrunners Reunion This weekends Roadrunners Reunion provided a couple of tidbits that the list might find interesting... This was related to me a few minutes ago by Jim Goodall who was there. He was voted one of two (ever) Associate Members in the club, the other is Francis Gary Powers Jr, the son of the famous SAM target over Russia. That's #1. #2 is a bit more eye-opening. On Saturday night someone there read from a newspaper clipping (Las Vegas newspaper? UPI? AP?) and explained how the USAF has just admitted that it has been flying a triangle-shaped aircraft since 1989 and that more information will be released soon. He also imparted that the USAF is going to move the A-12 (#122) from the US Intrepid museum where it's been the target of much vandalism. They plan to move it to a pylon in front of the CIA Headquarters at McLean VA... personally, I can't think of a better place. Vandalism always makes me sick, anyway. Finally, a plug that's only slightly commercial: The Whitesides Defense Fund has been setup to counter USAF plans to seize more land from the BLM at Groom Lake. Available for sale, with profits going to the fund, are the following: an 8 color Groom Lake/Area 51 patch $8 the following photos, which are the panoramic shots seen in the March '93 Popular Science... of Groom Lake. Small set is 3 8x10's for $90 Large set is 3 20x30's for $300 Inquiries can be made by contacting the Whitesides Defense Fund at: 17719 Pacific Ave South Box 151 Spanaway, WA 98387. That should be enough info to get things buzzing again...
