I remember reading a while ago that while bodies were returned and some survivors sent home there were unaccounted for crewmen who all just happened to be the electronics specialists. Now the cold war is over it would be interesting to see if we find out just what happened.I know a Sweedish DC3 went missing over the Barents sea in the late 1940s and in the 1950s a couple of Mildenhall based RB47s were shot down in the same area. Some of the RB47 crew were sent back alive but not the electronics specialists.I wonder how many of these guys ended up in the gulags? As of today (October 6, 1993) they have not made their initial response, although they legally have 30 days to do so (several monthes ago, I filed a FOIA request on another subject with the Department of Defense and their initial response was that there were 989 requests ahead of mine...) I request that copies of any documents summarizing or illustrating the aircraft known as "Senior Citizen" (1993 Defense Program Element 0401316F) be provided to me. I have been unable to locate any reference to this program in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1994, and I believe this program has been cancelled. Under this FOIA request, I also request information indicating whether or not this aircraft was tested at the USAF facility at Groom Lake,Nevada described in the aviation press and House of Representatives report 98-1046 (98th Congress, 2nd Session, also described in H.R. 4932 for this session of Congress). I also request a summary of the status of aircraft test programs at Groom Lake. This information is not for commercial use, but may be provided to various taxpayer groups or members of Congress. I request a waiver of all fees for this request, but I am willing to pay up to $100 in fees for this request. As a team of US investigators arrived in Armenia Aug 28:th, we'll maybe learn more. Other facts mentioned were that the wreckage was found on Aug 2:nd and that the remains of six out of the 17 crew have been returned to USA, but as the state of the wreckage is unknown to me, it doesn't really tell us anything. In spite of beeing an electronic reconnaissance aircraft, it is said to have been a C-130A. - -- Urban Fredriksson urf@icl.se ------------------------------ End of Skunk Works Digest V4 #31 ******************************** To subscribe to skunk-works-digest, send the command: subscribe skunk-works-digest in the body of a message to "listserv@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu".
