I looked through LOCIS yesterday and came up with a few references to
the subs in question:

The Thresher has a couple books describing its demise:

1. Bentley, John. The Thresher disaster:  the most tragic dive in
submarine history. London, 1975. 372p.

2. Polman, Norman. Death of the Thresher. Philly, 1964. 148p.

And regarding the Scorpion there seems to be a short little publication
put out by the GPO:
1. United States Ship Scorpion (SSN-589): in memoriam. GPO, 1969. 64p.
