Just pivked this up from NTB (A news agency): The CIA will operate two RPVs out of Albania for survailance of military targets in the former Yugoslavia. They are claiming to have information = from american officials. This story is to be printed in Aviation Week and Space Technology next week. In the story there is a claim that the albanian goverment have agreed with the operation. Italy was asked but refused to let the planes operate from theire bases. Someone in the "US defence", probably DoD, have confirmed the story, but CIA denies it. The actual plane is the GNAT 750, and it is said to "operate at 7.600m in 24hours". There is also a note about the construction of a satelitt station in = Albania. Nothing about which base in Albania. This is a rater free transcript, and just for discussion. The orginal note was from ntb@usit.uio.no (Norsk Telegrambyr=E5) and dated 29 Jan 1994 01:47:29 +0100 John Flame me for the lang. as the original note is in norwegian. Ahh one more thing, this newsreport is quoting Reuter and AP (Asossiated Press?) so if anyone have acess to them you might find more. ------------------------------ End of Skunk Works Digest V4 #134 ********************************* To subscribe to skunk-works-digest, send the command: subscribe skunk-works-digest in the body of a message to "listserv@harbor.ecn.purdue.edu".
