As of my last copy, it was free, and can be obtained by calling the CIA public affairs office (yes, there is one) at (703) 482-7676. If that doesn't work, call the operator at (703) 482-1100 and ask for the PA office. ------------------------------ From: I am the NRA Date: Wed, 13 Apr 94 12:22:11 PDT Subject: "tabloid" >From: US4RMC::"TRADER@cup.portal.com" "MAIL-11 Daemon" 13-APR-1994 02:46:10.89 > Defense Intelligence Agency Current Assessments > _______________________________________________ > A tabloid product that provides a brief and timely assessment of an > ongoing military or military-related situation or recent development > considered highly significant to national-level decisionmakers. >>Given the word "tabloid" one wonders if it features lurid New York Post >style headlines, such as "Serbian general's secret Bosnian girlfriend"... "tabloid" refers to a particular substyle of newspaper publication. It just happens that the best known (in the US) users of the "tabloid" format are senastionalist. ECN, EDN Products Review, The Law Digest and a couple of financial journals are also "tabloids" in printer_speak. It defines a page style and prientation, rather than a content. It also _implies_ a "daily/urgent" style rather than a weekly/slick format. regards dwp ------------------------------ End of Skunk Works Digest V5 #63 ******************************** To subscribe to skunk-works-digest, send the command: subscribe skunk-works-digest in the body of a message to "majordomo@mail.orst.edu".
