The Aereon 26 is photographied in the 1976-1977 Jane's. The Aereon ZC looks very much like the so-called UFOs seen in Belgium. In 1984 there was a project Aereon 340, 100 meters length, 80 meters large. For example... if the subject was the Aurora or whatever... put AURORA: in the heading. If it's something about Whitesides or the Lockheed Stealth Ship or Gusto, or PWDE, or whatever, put a more succinct line in the subject header. That would help disinterested parties bypass email they're not interested in. Just my $.02 worth... I am mostly interested in HOW the aircrafts arrived there. Indeed, you may remember that there had been a dplomatic tension about the French refusal to allow the USAF to fly over France. Do you think it is possible that, during a night, in order to avoid some costs, the USAF nevertheless flought over France ? France has a modern and well equi ped airforce of it's own, kinda hard to sneak past. Sounds odd that France wouldn't allow overflight of it's airspace, since France was a member of the coalition and was very active in both air and ground operations. Are you sure you aren't remembering the flap about the Lybia Raid. US aircraft did have to take the long route during that operation. I am going to upload 2 scanned images of hypersonic reconnaissance aircraft designs (from 1992) for FTP download at gaia.ucs.orst.edu . They should appear shortly. They include: # nasahypr.gif -- this is from NASA study for a hypersonic follow-on to the SR-71... It greatly resembles what people believe "Aurora" to look like. # scarlet2.gif -- the Navy/NASA SCARLET II hypersonic waverider design. Very exotic, and unlike anything I've seen an illustration of before. Please see the text files nasahypr.txt and scarlet2.txt for specifications and for info on how to order the NASA technical reports I scanned these from. Neither of these designs have been mentioned in the FAS "Mystery Aircraft" report or Sweetman's Aurora book.
