She came in from the right (NE), passed the reviewing area level, banked around (nice profile!) and passed once more from the right, then pulled up a bit and flew out of sight. :-( I snapped off about a 6 photos. I sure hope they turn out! There was a U-2R on display. I asked one of the guys there if they'd bring a Blackbird next year. Him: "Yeah, wish they were still flying." Me: "Borrow one of NASA's." ;-) Him: "Yeah." Oh, and I learned a BIG lesson about assuming what would be there on display. I asked the guy by the U-2 if there was an F-117 there. Him: "Yeah, right there." "You just can't see it." There was no B-52 on display, either. I apologize to everyone who was counting on meeting in front of the Nighthawk after the Thunderbirds show. I thought the U-2 would be a reasonable alternative, but no one approached me there. (Is it my breath?!?) The rest of you were all over in front of the B-1B, weren't you!!! ;-) All in all, a *GREAT* show!!! If anyone wants to know more (about the airshow!), E-Mail me. I have dates for the next 3 years, too! - -- Tom Ohmer, Computer Specialist, DSAC-AAA 1 614 692 8059 DLA Systems Automation Center, PO Box 1605, Columbus, OH 43216-5002 tohmer@dsac.dla.mil DoD #1436 ...osu-cis!dsac!tohmer "Sorry, we're closed." -- Sam Malone ------------------------------ From: Kathryn & Andreas Gehrs-Pahl Date: Mon, 25 Jul 1994 15:24:35 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Re: US Air & Trade Show report On Mon, 25 Jul 1994, Tom Ohmer wrote: >There was a U-2R on display. I talked with them about the SR-71 too, and asked if they saw one making touch-and-goes at Beale lately. None of them saw one there, and one said the _wonderful_ SR-71 was cancelled to put all the money into the _evil_ B-1, which was a very _bad_ aircraft. He was a maintanance guy and said he was asked to work on the B-1B, but declined, since it would be on the ground most of the time, and a real bitch. He hated the B-1B :) >There was no B-52 on display, either. I apologize to everyone who was >counting on meeting in front of the Nighthawk after the Thunderbirds >show. The rest of you were all >over in front of the B-1B, weren't you!!! ;-) Kathryn and I were there, right after the T-birds show, for at least an hour on Saturday and about 30 minutes on Sunday. We tried to find a grey An-225 t-shirt or a blue DSAC cap, but had no luck. We had our blue "Yankee Air Force" caps on, and I even talked with one of the pilots about the Internet / Skunk-works mailing list, and that I assumed the other skunkers would meet there, the only logical place. But we couldn't find anyone. >All in all, a *GREAT* show!!! If anyone wants to know more (about the >airshow!), E-Mail me. I have dates for the next 3 years, too! Yes, it was a great show -- kinda skunky were: U-2R (of course), 80-1092 'BB', 99th SRS, 9th SRW, Beale AFB, CA E-9A, 84-048 'WE', ex 'N802AP', 82th TATS, 475th WEG, Tyndal AFB, FL RC-12D Guardrail V, 81-23542, 15th MI BN "Nighthawks", Fort ..., TX EC-130H Compass Call, 73-1590 'DM', 43rd ECS, 355th WG, Davis Monthan AFB, AZ MC-130H, 87-0025, low pass with flares, not accessable MH-53J Pave Low E, 66-14431 B-2A (overflight only) And the Helio H550A Stallion (military AU-24A), 'N550HE', of the 'G.I. Joe Heroes Skydiving Team' :) Kathryn enjoyed seeing the Wright "B" Flyer replica in the air at the same time as an F-16, and the great variety of WWII planes in flight. - -- Andreas and Kathryn - --- --- Andreas & Kathryn Gehrs-Pahl Absolute Software 313 West Court St. #305 schnars@umcc.ais.org Flint, MI 48502-1239 Tel: (810) 238-8469 - --- --- ------------------------------ From: "Mike Bishop" Date: Mon, 25 Jul 94 18:22 EDT Subject: Re: Skunk Works Digest V5 #144 > From: "Thomas A.
