There were lots of static displays, among others, a F-117 and a F-22. My eight year old daughter got to sit in the flight deck of a B-1B, and then the crew decided that the ejection seats weren't safed properly and stoped letting everyone go up. The F-117 also did a fly-by as did a B-2. Now that was worth all the sunburn in the world. Just another software type question. Keep-em flying. Glenn Campbell has always said that he does not take a stand on the UFO issue and that he is open to any verifiable proof or stories from reliable witnesses (unlike Lazar). In fact, in the last 1 or 2 issues of the Goom Lake Desert Rat he has reprinted the unsubstantiated ramblings of someone who claims to have worked at Groom Lake in close proximity with alien craft. Mr. Campbell has stated again and again that he does not take a position on the UFO issue because there is not enough verifiable data. The person that Campbell interviewed for the last Rat was able to relate a plausible story without taking sides on the issue, and he had nothing to gain from telling his story, so Mr. Campbell reprinted it. Bob Lazar and the other people of his ilk prey upon the naivete of your Average Joe for only one reason: fame. Lazar has been proven again and again to be a fake, and even when he is exposed in public he refuses (even in the face of facts) to even say, "Whoops. Maybe I was wrong this once." Instead of trying to support his position with verifiable data or admit he was wrong, he turns to slandering his accusers...the last gasp of a raving paranoiac. Get a subscription to the Skeptical Inquirer and learn some some common sense. Glenn Campbell has done an excellent job of even-handed reporting, and your dim, UFO frenzied, conspiracy-babble will never change a sane person's mind. I do have to take you to task for one particularly dim-witted remark you made: "Crazy as this sounds, the consensous of opinion by those "in the know" is that no secret aircraft testing is done if someone knows you are watching, ie, since they always know when someone is watching, no one will ever see a secret aircraft.(unless of course you are privy to secret places from which to watch known only by those "in the know," ie, only they have seen secret aircraft?)" You, idiot. Topographical maps are available to anyone with an extra $5. With a modicum of research anyone can look at a topo of the region and locate all of the airstrip viewing points. (no offense, Trader! ;-) If there were secret craft flying from Groom Lake, all the Cammo Dudes would have to do is get out a telescope and look at the half-dozen possible viewing areas and see if there were any lurkers about. Oh, and by the way, none of these areas are "secret" or for those that are "in the know". The only reason that Mr. Campbell or any of the other reliable sources don't publicly announce the viewing areas over the Internet is so that they may have a place to view from that won't suffer the fate of Freedom Ridge. None of them will withold this infrmation from you if you ask for it. There is no conspiracy to keep you dim-witted. This is your own doing. If you want to see a conspiracy at work, start looking at the legal sham that Mr. Campbell was just subjected to. Please keep this kind of subjective ranting to yourself, and don't waste our time with it. (Reply directly to me, please. Don't waste other people's time as well.) PETERSBURG A NATO Advanced Research Workshop examining the disposal of ex-weapons plutonium will take place 14-17 May 1995 in St. Petersburg, Russia. The workshop will focus on vitrification, that is, mixing ex-weapons plutonium with high-level radioactive waste and a quantity of suitable glass frit, and melting it to form a solid glass block. The NATO Division of Scientific and Environmental Affairs supported two earlier workshops on the management of ex-weapons plutonium. The first, in January 1994 in London, considered a wide range of technical options, designating two options as most promising. A meeting addressing the first of those options, that of burning plutonium mixed with uranium oxide (MOX) as a fuel in power reactors, was held in October 1994 in Obninsk, Russia. The meeting in St. Petersburg will explore the second option, that of vitrifying and disposing of ex- weapons plutonium. The vitrification and disposal method remains a conceptual one at present. Experts, from East and West, will assess existing knowledge, the state- of-the-art, and identify areas in need of further research and development. Over thirty experts from Germany and Russia, as well as Belarus, the United Kingdom, the United States, Belgium, France, Sweden and Japan, will participate in the three day workshop. Participants include representatives from the German Institute for Chemical Technology at Julich, the V.G. Khlopin Radium Institute in St. Petersburg, Belgoprocess, the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, and the US Department of Energy. Co-directors are Prof. E. Merz (Germany) (Fax: int'l-49-2461.612450) and Dr. A. Karelin (Russia) (Fax: int'l-7-812-534.7752).
