The only citations which I have been able to pull up are the pilot seat safety placard from an Aurora and a safety warning in the Miata Club magazine. Curiously, both items caution readers not to try it unless the readers are too young and flexible to be there in the first place. There are also some passing references in the orthopedic surgery sections of Medline and a couple of recent threads in . Hello All, Not directly Skunk Works related, but.....Hey it deals with the SR! The Air Force has a new SR-71 crew, Major Bert Garrison(pilot) and Capt. (recently promoted to Major) Domingo Ochotorena(rso) flew their first solo flight in the SR-71 on Aug 19, 1997. They are the first SR-71 crew in nine years. A new crew will begin training after the fiscal year. To those who know me, and knew of the hunt, the craft also became known as "That damn plane", for reasons apparent in the narrative. Kids, don't try this at home.... Hi Tom Great story, reminds me of a couple of my ill-fated explorations. The desert can be pretty unforgiving. Unfortunately, (or fortunately according to my wife) I live 1,200 mi. from the Nevada desert, so don't get there very often. Get to LA about twice a year, but Nevada is another side trip. About a year ago, I wrote you about my exploration around the southern border of Dugway, and I wondered whether the other A-12 crash site near Wendover had been located. Was apparently a pitot tube iceup that brought it down. Has it been located since?
